
Ducks Conquer Trojans for Pac-12 Win

EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon men's tennis team defeated No. 49 ranked USC 4-3 to earn a Pac-12 win on Sunday.
Matthew Burton and Quinn Vandecasteele earned the first win of the day for Oregon, defeating the No. 75 ranked Trojan pair of Peter Makk and Lodewijk Weststrate on court one.
Avi Shugar and Lachlan Robertson fell on court four, while Ray Lo and Lenn Luemkemann played out the deciding match. The pair won 7-6 (7-3) to secure the doubles point for the Ducks.
In singles, Zian Vanderstappen finished first with a loss on court four to tie things up at 1-1. Vandecasteele followed, dropping straight sets on court one to put Oregon in a 2-1 hole. Lenn Luemkemann evened the score from court five, taking down Samuel Rubell in straight sets. Ray Lo picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6, dropping just three games to swing things in favor of Oregon, 3-2.
Burton's match at No. 3 was decided by a third set, with USC's Westrate winning 3-6, 6-1, 4-6. With the score tied at three, Vlad Breazu was the last UO man on the court. After splitting the first two sets, the sophomore earned a win against Volodymyr Iakubenko on court two to finalize the match in favor of the Ducks.
The Ducks will continue their homestand next Saturday as they face the Washington Huskies for a conference match-up.
