NOT SO MID
Senior midfielder Morgan McCarthy was named the 2024 Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year after another incredible season for the Ducks. McCarthy enters the tournament with a career-high 42 goals and is one of just eight players nationally – and the only in the Pac-12 – with 40-plus goals, 30-plus draw controls and 15-plus caused turnovers.
First-year head coach Jessica Drummond has wasted no time putting her stamp on the program she competed for from 2009-12. With a 20-12 victory over Arizona State in the home finale, the Ducks set a new single-season program mark with seven home wins, a direct result of her emphasis to "Defend Papé Field" this season. A defensive coach in her time at Vermont, Drummond has brought a new edge to the Oregon defense as the Ducks have held eight opponents under 10 goals this season after doing so just three times across the last three seasons combined.
Oregon's midfield trio of Morgan McCarthy, Anna Simmons and Rachel Pallo have been a do-it-all combo for the Ducks this season. The trio has started each of UO's 14 games and combined for 89 goals, 125 draw controls and 50 caused turnovers.
Sophomore midfielder Anna Simmons has been a revelation for Oregon this season. The youngest of the Ducks' six team captains is second on the team with 33 goals and leads the Ducks with 20 caused turnovers.
