04/28/24 | Acrobatics & Tumbling
FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Oregon acrobatics and tumbling closed out the 2024 season by capturing four event titles on the final day of the NCATA National Championships held at Fairmont State.
The Ducks competed in 10 of the 15 event titles and won four-straight after capturing the final toss heat and each of the first three heats in tumbling. Oregon now has 56 individual event titles in its history, and the four they collected on Sunday are the most by the Ducks since 2019.
The Ducks' first win of the day came in the open toss event as Kaylie Barrera, Ava Gowdy, Brylie Hoover, Emma Keogh, Italie Macchiavello and Cami Wilson combined to score a 9.75 and capture Oregon's first title in the event since 2019 and third all time.
Next up was the duo tumbling pass in which Mallory Kent and Rachel Furlong teamed up to score a 9.575 with a performance that brought the crowd to its feet. Kent and Furlong earned Oregon its first title in the event in over a decade as the Ducks' last trio tumbling event championship came in 2013.
The Ducks entered Sunday as the three-time defending champion in the trio tumbling pass, and Kaylie Barrera, Alexis Giardina and Rickelle Henderson kept the streak alive with a 9.175. UO has dominated the event historically, capturing six titles in the event all-time.
The quad tumbling pass followed as twins Emma and Katie Keogh teamed up with Camille Mantoani and Riley Watson to score an 8.55 and win a fourth-straight event of the day for the Ducks. Oregon won the quad tumbling event for the fifth time in program history and first time since 2017.
The event finals capped a successful season for Oregon in which the Ducks advanced to the national semifinals for the second consecutive season and earned four top-10 victories.
