
Men's Tennis Wins Two More at Home

EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon men's tennis maintained their perfect record at home, defeating Nebraska 4-3 and Portland State 4-0 on Saturday.
Match One:
After dropping the first three points of the match, Oregon men's tennis rallied for a 4-3 victory over future conference foe Nebraska Saturday afternoon at the Student Tennis Center. Vlad Breazu secured the match with a three-set win at No. 3 singles.
The teams split the first two doubles matches including a 6-4 win for Avi Shugar and Lachlan Robertson on court three. On court two, David Cierny and Ray Lo held an early lead but Lars Johann and Calvin Mueller came back to force a tiebreak, and eventually, the Huskers secured the point with a 9-7 decision.
Nebraska took the first two singles matches to extend their match lead to 3-0. The visitors got their points on courts two and four. Quinn Vandecasteele brought in a Duck win at No. 1 with a three-set defeat of Mueller, 6-4, 1-6, 6-1.
Lenn Luemkemann won 7-6(5), 6-4 on court six and Zian Vanderstappen evened the score to 3-3 with a 7-5, 7-6(5) victory in the No. 5 spot.
Breazu was the last Oregon man on the court, splitting the first two sets 4-6 and 7-6 with a 12-10 tiebreak in the second. The UO sophomore won 6-3 in the third set to secure the win for the Ducks.
"We showed a lot of grit in singles, it was really exciting to see," said head coach Nils Schyllander. "We had two freshmen and a sophomore getting it done for us. It was really nice to see the young ones step up."

Match Two:
The Ducks started with singles after a long morning match, defeating Portland State 4-0 on Saturday. After securing the match with singles wins, doubles matches were not played.
Ray Lo brought in a swift 6-1, 6-1 win on court six, setting the tone for Oregon. Zian Vanderstappen followed, taking a 6-1, 6-1 victory as well.
Quinn Vandecasteele put the Ducks up 3-0, winning straight sets on court one. Freshman Lenn Luemkemann clinched the match winning straight sets on court five.
The UO men will play on the road for the remainder of February and March, but return to Eugene on April 5 to face UCLA in conference play.
