Men's Tennis Splits Weekend in San Diego

SAN DIEGO - Calif. - The Oregon men's tennis team defeated Cal Poly 4-3 on Saturday, before falling 4-0 to No. 15 ranked San Diego on Sunday.
Match one:
The Ducks started early, securing the doubles point from courts one and three. Matthew Burton and Quinn Vandecasteele paired up for a 6-1 win, while Lachlan Robertson and Avi Shugar won 6-2. Vandecasteele was first off the court in singles, defeating Noah Berry 6-4, 6-4. Matthew Burton lost his first set, but came back to win 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.
David Cierny won the deciding set, going 1-6, 7-6, 6-2 against Colter Smith in the No. 2 spot.
Oregon will be back in action tomorrow, facing San Diego at 11 a.m.

Match two:
The No. 15 ranked San Diego team looked worthy of the ranking on Sunday, sweeping the Ducks 4-0.
USD secured the doubles point after 6-3 wins on courts two and three. Quinn Vandecasteele and Matthew Burton went unfinished on court one, trailing 6-5 when the point was secured.
The next three points came in sweeps for San Diego. Courts four, one, and two all finished with San Diego victories to clinch a 4-0 win on the day. Matthew Burton and Ray Lo were both contending when the match was decided, Burton in a third set and Lo ahead 5-4 in his second.
Oregon will travel to Santa Barabara next weekend to face UCSB.
