Ducks Advance to NCATA Semifinals

WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. —Oregon acrobatics and tumbling survived and advanced Thursday, defeating No. 7 Frostburg State 265.060-257.200.
Thursday's victory resulted in the Ducks reaching the NCATA National Championship semifinals for the 10th time in program history.
How it Happened: Oregon gave itself an excellent foundation for success, getting off to a 37.825-36.650 lead after the compulsory event. The highlight of the event were scores of 9.80 and 9.85 in the compulsory pyramid and toss heats, respectively.
The Ducks carried that momentum into the acro event, using a 9.775 in the five element acro for a 66.475-64.625 advantage after two.
The Bobcats went toe-to-toe with Oregon in the pyramid event, with both sides posting a 28.925. Frostburg State had the highest-scoring heat of the third portion of the day, with a 9.850 in the open pyramid. The Ducks' consistency in the event kept them in front, entering the break with a 95.400-93.550 advantage.
Oregon increased its lead in the toss event, taking over a three-point lead into the tumbling event. The Ducks' built advantage took a hit following the tumbling event. Some costly falls saw Oregon escape the fifth event with a narrow 173.400-173.150 lead with the team routine remaining. Rickelle Henderson shined during the solo passes, earning a 9.825 in the six element heat.
The Ducks' sealed their 19th overall victory in program history during the NCATA National Championships behind a 91.66-84.050 difference to clinch the quarterfinal win.
