Clutch Singles Wins Give Ducks Desert Split

TUCSON, Ariz. – Oregon capped off its conference-opening weekend in the desert with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Arizona, getting singles wins in the final two matches from Rifanty Kahfiani and Uxia Martinez Moral to clinch.
How it Happened: Trailing 3-2 with just two matches in progress, Kahfiani tied the match up with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles, setting up Martinez Moral as the deciding match at No. 4. After winning the opening set in a tiebreak and dropping the second, Martinez Moral turned in a convincing 6-3 victory in the third set to clinch the match.
After dropping the doubles point on Friday for the first time this year, the Ducks got back on track in pairs play with a couple of dominant wins to put up the first point of the match. Lillian Mould and Janice Tjen picked up the first win of the day with a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles before Julia Eshet and Allison Mulville capped off the point with a 6-2 win of their own at No. 3.
Tjen put up Oregon's first point of singles with yet another strong performance at the No. 1 spot, winning 6-2, 6-1 to make it 2-0, Ducks. Arizona would put up the next three points with a trio of singles wins, however, to set up the exciting finish.
