
Ducks Fall to Saint Mary's, 4-2

Moraga, Calif. – The Ducks won doubles play to put a point on the board early, but Saint Mary's was victorious in singles play and defeated the Ducks, 4-2, on Friday.
How it Happened:
Oregon claimed the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead over the Ducks. Junior Plobrung Plipuech had her spring season debut winning her doubles match with her partner Rifanty Kahfiani. The solid duo of Julia Eshet and Lillian Mould also came out victorious in doubles play to secure the doubles point for the Ducks.
Julia Eshet was the only Duck to come out victorious in singles play, defeating Gabriela Teves 7-5, 6-2. Freshman Lillian Mould showed resilience once again in her match, but the match ended unfinished at 6-4, 2-6, 5-5.
Senior Rifanty Kahfiani lost a tough battle to No. 19 ranked Mariia Kozyreva. Kahfiani lost the first set 1-6, but came back fighting in the second set to earn a set two victory, 7-5. Kozyreva wrapped the match up, winning the third set (6-3) to put a point on the board for Saint Mary's.
Freshman Myah Petchey also had a close match. Petchey started off strong winning the first set (6-3), but her opponent, Danielle McIntyre, dominated sets two and three to win the match. Saint Mary's earned another point when Aubane Hill (SMC) defeated Madisen Olsen (ORE), 6-3, 6-2.
