Ducks vs Utah in Pac-12 Tournament Opener

EUGENE, Ore. – With eyes on improving its national resume, the No. 45 Oregon men's tennis team takes on Utah in Wednesday's opening round of the Pac-12 Championship. First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m. (PT) at Libbey Park in Ojai, Calif.

The Oregon-Utah winner will advance to play top-seeded UCLA in the tournament quarterfinals.

The Ducks carry a 13-9 record in to the postseason while Utah is 16-10 overall. The two teams played in Eugene earlier this year with the Utes posting a 4-2 win. Riki Oshima and Joshua Charlton put Oregon on the board with wins on courts three and four, respectively.

In singles play, Oshima and Charlton each have 20 wins this season trailing only a team-leading 21 wins by Thomas Laurent. Charlton finished the regular season with a 16-0 dual record with a 4-0 mark against Pac-12 opponents. He and Ty Gentry lead Oregon in doubles action with 19 and 18 wins, respectively.

Wednesday's match will be the third Pac-12 Championship meeting between Oregon and Utah and first since the 2013 event. The Utes won both of those meetings. Oregon owns a 5-7 overall record in Pac-12 Championships matches. The tournament transitioned to a team format in 2012. The Ducks have twice advanced to the Pac-12 semifinals.
