LAST TIME OUT
A short-handed Duck squad struggled last weekend at home, falling to Idaho (4-3, March 1) and No. 7 Kansas (7-0, March 3).
Against Idaho, Oregon executed well to begin the match. Daniela Nasser and Paiton Wagner were the first to finish in doubles, downing their opponents on court two, 6-1.
One court over, Julia Eshet made her spring season debut as she paired with Allison Mulville. The duo went on to win, 6-3, and clinch the first point of the day.
In singles, the Vandals captured two early points due to a victory at the No. 5 spot and an Oregon forfeit at the No. 6 spot.
The Ducks countered, claiming two singles points of their own, with Mulville dominating on court four (6-0, 6-1) and Wagner pulling o the come-back win on court three (7-5, 6-0). However Idaho would win the remaining matches to secure the victory in Eugene.
On Sunday, the Ducks' small roster caused an unfamiliar doubles lineup to take the court for Oregon. With wins on the first two courts, Kansas claimed the doubles point.
The Jayhawks were immediately awarded another point to begin singles with an Oregon forfeit on court six, taking a 2-0 lead.
The Ducks continued to fight against Kansas, but ultimately the Jayhawks captured the victory with wins on the remaining five courts.
RECORD SETTING SENIORS
After recording victories against Montana and San Diego, Daniela Nasser and Shweta Sangwan both have 62 career wins under their belts. Reaching 62 wins puts both seniors in a tie for eighth on UO's all-time career wins list, passing Kumi Nagamoto (1987-90)
Nasser and Sangwan need three more wins to tie head coach Courtney Nagle for seventh on the list with 65 wins.
IN THE RANKINGS
Shweta Sangwan is currently ranked as the No. 87 player in the nation after winning her first five matches of spring season. The most notable of Sangwan's wins, comes against No. 62 Solymar Colling of San Diego in a 6-1, 6-3 victory.
