Ducks Can't Hold Off No. 4 Cardinal

Despite a hard-fought doubles point, the Oregon women's tennis team lost 7-0 against fourth-ranked Stanford on Sunday.
EUGENE, Ore. – A shuffled Oregon lineup couldn't hold on against fourth-ranked Stanford, falling 7-0 at the Student Tennis Center on Sunday.
Oregon now moves to 6-7 on the season after dropping the first two matches of Pac-12 play to ranked opponents.

"I think you learn something every match you play," said head coach Courtney Nagle. "We definitely learned something about ourselves today. I'm really pleased with the way we came out in doubles … To get us in position where it was coming down to the last match was huge."
Rifanty Kahfiani and Allison Muville were the ones who put Oregon in that position. In only their third time playing together, Kahfiani and Mulville were the first off the court with a 6-3 win over the 20th-ranked pair of Emily Arbuthnott and Michaela Gordon. But despite hard-fought matches on the neighboring courts, Stanford won at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
From there, the Cardinal (8-1, 1-0 Pac-12) carried over their momentum and as Nagle put it, "could hit the ball on a dime" if they wanted to, to tally wins across the board.
