Ducks Fall to USC, 5-2

Despite some well-executed doubles and singles matches, the Oregon women's tennis team fell, 5-2, to 13th-ranked USC on Saturday.
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team couldn't surmount an early deficit, falling to 13th-ranked USC, 5-2, on Saturday at the Student Tennis Center.
How It Happened: In doubles, UO was forced to forfeit on court three, turning the attention to courts one and two. Julia Eshet and Rifanty Kahfiani were the first to finish with a dominate 6-1 result on court two, however the Trojans answered right back with a 6-2 win on court one to take a 1-0 lead.
Following the doubles point, USC was quick to clinch the match with a UO forfeit at court six and two victories at the No. 4 and 5 spots. But despite a victory in hand for the visiting team, Oregon would not easily surrender the remaining three matches.
Paiton Wagner was the first one to make some noise for the Ducks. The junior claimed a straight-set victory, 6-1, 6-4, on court two and now moves to an impressive 10-4 in dual-matches this season.
Kahfiani finished shortly after Wagner, fighting her way to a three-set victory on court three, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.
One court over, Daniela Nasser was battling with No. 49 Salma Ewing. Nasser competed closely with her ranked opponent, but ultimately fell in the third-set tiebreak, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 10-6.
