SYRACUSE, NY ? Oregon's Ilsa van den Berg and Jana Drummond recorded five points each to lead the Ducks past Le Moyne 17-11 on Saturday at the Niland Athletic Complex.
With the victory, the UO (8-3) snapped a brief one-game slide and improved to 2-1 on its current four-game road trip. The Dolphins (4-6), who received hat tricks from Mia Valetta and Nerissa Barzee, fell to the Ducks for the second time in as many seasons.
Catherine Davidson added a hat-trick, and Alicia Burkhart and Bina Barrett scored two goals apiece for the visitors.
Le Moyne actually jumped in front of Oregon, 2-0, before the Ducks responded with five unanswered goals - three by van den Berg - to take a 5-2 lead midway through the first period. Rebekah Elmer's second goal via a free position attempt cut the Oregon lead to 5-3, but the Ducks closed the first half on a 4-1 run to take a 9-4 lead into the break.
The Dolphins responded after halftime, scoring three of the period's first four goals to pull within 10-7. Le Moyne got within two scores at one point, trailing 11-9, but the Ducks pulled away down the stretch with Jana Drummond figuring in UO's final four goals of the day on two goals and two assists. Van den Berg finished the onslaught with her fifth goal of the game, equaling her career high.
In goal, Anna Poponyak registered nine saves for the Ducks. Le Moyne's Kelly Fucillo tallied 11 saves.
The Ducks are on the road for all but one of their remaining four regular season games. They next travel to Denver for a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation clash on April 4.
