Oregon Women lose to Nevada

After defeating the University of Portland earlier today the Ducks could not come away with a victory against Nevada. The Oregon women Ducks loss to Nevada 4-3. The Ducks started off losing the doubles point and never could make a come back. The Ducks record now falls to 6-7 on the year.

At the No. 1 spot Maria Mizyuk won 6-2, 6-3 against freshman Celine Rolly. Anna Powaska won convincingly 6-1, 6-4 against Florence De Vrye at the No. 3 slot. The Wolf pack's Alice Hall defeated Ana Cecilia Olivos 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot. In the No. 5 spot Stephanie Macfarlane ended up losing to Laetitia Tan 7-5, 6-4. The match was close all the way up to last couple points where Macfarlane fell a little short.

Carmen Seremeta and Claudia Hirt both showed great courage and competitiveness in their brilliant come backs. Seremeta playing at the No. 2 position loss the first set 6-0 to Carloine Bailly; however, she came right back and battled to capture the next two sets 7-5, and 6-3 to win the match. Hirt wasn't even scheduled to play singles today, but Siobhan Cavan was unable to play, so Hirt stepped in with an impressive victory. Hirt like Seremeta loss the first set big, but she too came back to win the next sets, 6-4, 6-3

In doubles play Nevada won two of the three matches to win the doubles point. In the No. 1 spot Mizyuk and Bailly defeated Rolly and Powaska 8-5. At the No. 2 spot was where the Ducks picked up their one win. Seremeta and Hirt dominated Ogata and Tan to win 8-0. The combination of De Vyre and Hall defeated the freshman duo of Macfarlane and Cavan 8-3.

The Ducks look to bounce back against Sacramento State on Sunday at 12 p.m.
