EUGENE -- Theresa Waldron and Ilsa van den Berg tallied a combined 15 points as the Ducks comfortably rolled to a 20-12 victory over the Vermont Catamounts Monday night at Pape' Field.
Waldron had eight points, assisting on five goals and scoring a hat trick of her own. The junior now has 22 points on the year, second on the team behind van den Berg, whose five goals and two assists give her the team lead with 25 points.
"We did an amazing job spreading out their defense on the night," Waldron said. "I was fortunate to find my teammates open and they did a great job of converting their shots."
Waldron's performance was one shy of the school record of nine points set by Jen May against Davidson last year, while van den Berg's five goals tied her career high and was also one short of the school record held by both May and Alison Leiner.
Senior transfer Brooke Dieringer also had a hat trick for the Ducks, her second in as many games. She also tallied an assist, giving her four points on the evening.
Four other Ducks scored a pair of goals, including May, Jana Bradley, Kate Fleming, and Casey Rector.
Sixteen of the Ducks goals were assisted with May and Leiner tallying three a piece, tied for second on the team behind Waldron's five.
For the second game in a row, the Ducks jumped out to a large lead, opening with four straight goals in the first eight minutes. Vermont scored a pair of goals in retaliation and at one point in the first half, came as close as 6-3.
The Ducks closed the half on a 7-1 run, all but ending the Catamounts hope by the half as the Ducks lead 14-4 at the break.
"We had an exceptional first thirty minutes," head coach Jen Larsen said. "We did a great job of controlling the game early and keeping it at our pace."
Van den Berg opened the half with her third goal of the game, on a pretty assist from Waldron, to give the Ducks a 15-4 cushion. Up 11, the Ducks then began to sub out their starters to give them some rest, which led to a 6-1 Vermont run, which closed the Oregon lead to 16-10.
Coach Larsen then sent a few of the starters back into the game and order was restored as Oregon scored four of the last six goals in the last ten minutes for the final margin.
The 32 goals combined in the game was only three shy of the Pape' Field record, which was set last Saturday as St. Bonaventure defeated Vermont, 20-15.
Oregon outshot Vermont, 33-27 on the night and 21-12 in their dominant first half.
Freshman Sam Debow, starting her second game, made seven saves on the night.
Kristen Millar led the Catamounts with four goals, while Torrie Wasson added 2 goals and an assist.
The Ducks will take on Longwood on Thursday at approximately 7 p.m., after the Catamounts play Colgate on Pape' Field starting at 5 p.m.
