
No. 2 Cardinal Sweeps No. 19 Oregon

The No. 2 Stanford Cardinal came to Mac Court and left with their record remaining unblemished after a 30-27, 32-30, 30-20 victory over Oregon on Friday night.
Stanford (16-0, 5-0 Pac-10) became the first team to sweep
The Cardinal's Cynthia Barboza was the only player on the floor with a double-double (18 kills, 12 digs), while freshman Alix Klineman also added 18 kills for Stanford hitting .424. Foluke Akinradewo had 10 kills for Stanford, while senior setter Bryn Kehoe ran the offense with 49 assists.
The Cardinal hit .377 in the match, the best hitting percentage of any Ducks' opponent all year.
Junior Kristen Forristall matched her previous career high with nine kills, hitting a team best .438.
Oregon is now on a two-match losing streak after a 1-3 loss to Cal on Thursday ? it is the first time in 2007 the Ducks have lost consecutive matches.
Similar to
Oregon trailed by as many as five in the game, but down 13-15, scored five of the next seven points, taking an 18-17 lead - just the Ducks' second lead since the start of the match.
The Ducks maintained their lead, and held a 29-27 advantage
with game point in sight after a kill from Sonja Newcombe. Stanford battled
back to take a 30-29 lead and eventually won the game after
The Ducks are on the road for the next two weeks of Pac-10
play, heading to No. 5 UCLA (Thur., Oct. 11) and No. 4 USC (Fri., Oct. 12).
QUICK QUACKS: Stanford now holds a 44-4 series lead over
Oregon...the Ducks have not taken a game from the Cardinal since a 1-3 loss on
Nov. 2, 2001...head coach Jim Moore is now 11-31 in the Pac-10 Conference...Oregon
is now 0-3 against teams ranked in the top 10 and 1-3 against teams ranked in
the top 25.
