
Ducks Fall to Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. ? Seven Ducks scored goals for the fourth time in as many games but it wasn't enough as the University of Oregon women's lacrosse team lost its match against Colgate, Thursday, 15-7, at Tyler's Field in Hamilton, N.Y.
With the loss Oregon falls to 5-5 on the season, while Colgate improved to 6-4.
“Today just wasn't our best performance,” head coach Jen Larsen said. “We got beat by a team that executed and played a solid game of lacrosse.”
The Ducks fell behind 2-0 in the first six minutes before a goal by Kate Fleming cut the Raider lead in half. Oregon was outscored in the first half, 7-3 as Colgate kept the pressure up.
The Raiders were able to score in runs against the Ducks while Oregon couldn't sustain any offensive push. Five unanswered goals by Colgate after a Jana Bradley goal cut the lead to, 7-4 to open the second half put the game out of reach and gave Colgate a commanding, 12-4 lead.
The Raiders were dominant in most aspects of the game out shooting the Ducks, 36-20, while putting 26 of their shots on goal to Oregon's 16.
Oregon was only able to clear the ball successfully, 14-29 times while allowing Colgate to clear the ball in, 19-22 tries.
Allison Leiner's impressive season continues as she netted one goal, scooped six ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Anna Poponyak had 11 saves while allowing 15 goals, with the loss her record on the year falls to 5-5.
