Senior Valentina Vaulet led all players with 20 kills.

TEMPE, Ariz. — The No. 24 Oregon volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season Friday evening, dropping a four-set decision (25-13, 16-25, 25-22, 25-17) at No. 7 Arizona State. Senior outside hitter Valentina Vaulet led all players with 20 kills and was joined in double figures by sophomore opposite Alanah Clemente with 14.

The Ducks are now 5-1 heading into Saturday's match against UC Davis.

Friday marked Vaulet's second 20-kill performance of the season and ninth of her career. She finished just one dig shy of a double-double to go along with two assists, one service ace and one block. Setter Marina Crownover had 43 assists and eight digs while sophomore libero Reese Sheppard picked up a match-high 13 digs.

How It Happened: The teams traded lopsided set victories to open the match with Arizona State (6-2) hitting .429 in the opening frame. However, the Ducks jumped to an early 4-1 advantage in the second set with the help of three kills and a block from Clemente. Oregon later used a five-point surge—three Vaulet kills included—to take a 20-12 lead.

On their third set point, the Ducks turned to Clemente who responded with a kill to square the top-25 matchup at one set apiece.

The home team answered with the first three points of the third set and never trailed. The Sun Devils led by as much as six points at 16-10 but Oregon cut into the deficit with a four-point run that caused ASU to call timeout. The Ducks, however, would go get no closer than two and after saving a set point on an Arizona State service error, Oregon returned the favor and ASU led, 2-1.

The first three sets Friday featured just one tie and no lead changes.

Vaulet and Sjakkie Donkers combined for 10 kills in the fourth set and Oregon hit .344 as a team in the frame but the Sun Devils hit .400 on their way to closing out the win. Clemente put down a kill to bring the Ducks to within two at 17-15 but ASU went on a six-point run to pull away for the win.

Noemie Glover, who began her career at Oregon (2023-24), led Arizona State with 13 kills.

Notable: Vaulet reached 500 career digs with her fourth scoop of the match … freshman Alaina Pollard made her debut appearance in the first set and registered her first-career kill … Maila Ribeiro played in the sets one and four; she began her career at Arizona State (2025).
