Oregon hit .412 and had 11 service aces in Saturday’s four-set road victory.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Senior outside hitter Valentina Vaulet led all players with 21 kills in Oregon's four-set road win (25-14, 25-14, 20-25, 25-21) over weekend host Southeast Missouri. Collectively, the Ducks hit .412 and posted 11 service aces in the victory. Sophomore libero Reese Sheppard picked up a match-high 15 digs to anchor the team's defensive efforts.

Vaulet committed just three attack errors on 35 swings, good for a .514 hitting percentage in the match. She coupled her offensive performance with seven digs, four service aces and a block. She was joined in double figures by Alanah Clemente who put down 11 kills (.304) to go along with six digs and two blocks. Freshman Laura Eichert came off the bench late in the third and produced eight kills on 10 attacks.

Marina Crownover matched Vaulet with four aces, just one off her career high, and tallied 33 assists and seven digs of her own. In the middle, Dalia Virlan had seven kills (.385), four digs and three blocks while Iva Sucurovic posted a match-high four blocks. Maila Ribeiro was second on the team with eight digs.

How It Happened: Oregon overwhelmed SEMO in the opening frame with a .609 hitting percentage and four aces. Early in the set, the Ducks rattled off 10 of 12 points to take a 14-5 advantage on a service ace by Sjakkie Donkers. She later teamed with Virlan for a block and a double-digit lead at 19-9. On Oregon's second set point, Vaulet found the floor for the early 1-0 match lead.

The Ducks carried the momentum into the second set with a 9-4 lead, capping the surge with a kill from Clemente. Southeast Missouri (0-3) won the next four points to pull to within one but Oregon came back with another run of points which landed at 19-10 after back-to-back kills from Vaulet and Clemente. Off the bench, Marlee Arrington had consecutive kills and a block with Sucurovic down the stretch to lift the team to a 2-0 advantage.

Vaulet started the third with two kills but the home team answered with six points in a row, and never gave up the lead. The Ducks got to within two—SEMO up 14-12—after a kill from Vaulet but Southeast Missouri held steady. Arrington saved one set point but Lucy Arndt put down a kill to end the next rally and set in favor of her Redhawks.

Arndt led SEMO with 17 kills.

The teams battled to an 8-all tie in the fourth set before Oregon took control of play. Eichert tallied an ace for a 10-8 lead, a cushion that grew to 13-9 thanks to an ace from Sheppard. The Ducks went on to put together a six-point push. Virlan had three kills and two blocks during the stretch; Eichert had a kill and teamed up with Virlan for one of those blocks.

Sucurovic tallied her third kill to give Oregon a handful of match points at 24-15 but Southeast Missouri extended the game with a six-point surge that forced a UO timeout. Out of the huddle, Kamden Mitchell sent a ball out to Vaulet who closed out the match with her 21^st kill.

Notable: First meeting between the two teams … nine Oregon players had at least one kill … the match featured just nine ties; Oregon and Western Kentucky had 22 ties in Friday's three-set match.
