Football Practice Report: Aug. 14

The Ducks returned to practice Friday following a day off, and prepared for a scrimmage Saturday.
EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon football team will hold the first scrimmage of this year's preseason camp Saturday afternoon, but first up was a workout Friday afternoon on the team's new outdoor fields.
Following Friday's practice, defensive assistant coach Kamran Araghi met with local media, as did outside linebacker Bleu Dantzler and defensive back Trey McNutt. Video of those interviews is embedded below.
Some highlights with coach Araghi …
On any pressure when coaching a room with veterans like Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti: "I think you've got to put pressure on yourself as a coach, no matter what the situation is in the room. We're at the University of Oregon — there's high expectations here, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I try to be my hardest critic. … You've got to bring your best, and I want to be the best version of myself as a coach to make these players achieve their goals. So, I don't care who's in the room. I'm going to put pressure on myself to make sure we're getting the best out of each and every guy."
On how many players he might rotate on the edge this season: "We're really looking forward to the scrimmage tomorrow to see who's gonna show up and show out. The things I'm looking for is alignment, assignment, effort, and execution. We talk about our A's and E's in the room, and I'm really intrigued to see who shows up tomorrow so we can, as we get closer and closer to game one, see who's gonna be able to be in that rotation."
On coaxing a high 'havoc rate' out of the defense: "What shows up in practice is what's going to show up on game day. We can't pretend like if it doesn't happen in practice, all of a sudden you're getting turned on on Saturdays. I don't believe in gamers, and these guys are hungry, wanting to know, study the best guys in the country, the guys that got drafted in the first round. A havoc rate over 20 percent is what our goal is in our defensive program, and they want it and they're going to go hunt it. And we're going to make sure that we push them and we're going to acknowledge it day in and day out."
