Romero Named First-Team All-American For Third Time
06/02/26 | Women's Golf
EUGENE, Ore. – Kiara Romero achieved yet another milestone on Tuesday, becoming the first player in Oregon women's golf history to be named a WGCA first-team all-American for the third time.Â
Already the first two-time, first-team all-American in program history, Romero earned the honor for the third straight year following a tremendous junior season. Head coach Derek Radley has now coached seven players to 11 total all-America honors since he took over in 2018-19, after taking over a program that had three all-America honors between two players prior.Â
Romero set the UO single-season record for scoring average for the third year in a row, posting a miniscule 69.23 average across 24 rounds of stroke play to best her 69.91 mark from 2024-25.Â
The No. 1 ranked amateur in the world, Romero shot par-or-better in 21 of 24 rounds with 13 rounds in the 60s. She finished sub-70 in seven of 12 rounds in the spring while claiming individual tournament wins at the Chevron Collegiate and the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Invitational.Â
Combined with her two wins, Romero finished in the top three in seven of eight tournaments as a junior, including tying for third at the NCAA Waco Regional. She is the Oregon all-time leader with six career tournament wins while finishing in the top 10 in 22 of 30 events.Â
For her career, Romero has shot par-or-better in 71 of 87 rounds with 38 sub-70 performances. Her career scoring average of 70.06 is on pace to shatter the Oregon all-time record of 72.82 currently held by Briana Chacon. Romero is also tied for No. 3 all-time with 354 career birdies despite playing just three seasons so far.Â
