Monica Vaughn Fisher Returns As Women's Golf Assistant Coach

EUGENE, Ore. – A familiar face has rejoined the Oregon women's golf program as head coach Derek Radley announced the hiring of Monica Vaughn Fisher as the Ducks' assistant coach on Wednesday.

Vaughn was Radley's assistant coach for his first five seasons in Eugene, helping lead the Ducks to the 2022 Pac-12 Championship and a spot in the national championship match. She most recently worked for the Oregon Golf Association prior to returning to Radley's staff.

"I couldn't be more excited to have Coach Mo back here with me in Eugene," Radley said. "We started this together back in 2018 and we both feel like we have unfinished business together in our pursuit of a national championship. Coach Mo is an unbelievable person, coach and golfer, and our student-athletes are so fortunate to be able to learn from her.

"It feels like we're picking up right where we left off and we are both ready to hit the ground running for 2026-27. The band is back together and I can't wait to see what this season holds for the Ducks."

Radley named Vaughn his assistant coach shortly after being named head coach in June 2018, and the duo quickly turned the Ducks into a national power.

After a solid debut season and two years that were abbreviated due to COVID-19, Vaughn helped Radley lead the Ducks to the program's first ever conference title in 2022. Oregon followed up its Pac-12 championship with a NCAA Regional championship, and then advanced through stroke play and two rounds of match play at the NCAA Championships to play in the national title match.

"Coming back to this program and working with Coach D feels like coming home," Vaughn said. "Getting to do something I'm passionate about everyday alongside the amazing community at the University of Oregon is like food for the soul. I am so excited to be back and for this upcoming season."

From the 2018-19 season to 2022-23, Vaughn's last year on staff, the Ducks racked up seven tournament wins and posted 35 top-five finishes.

Vaughn also helped coach Hsin-Yu Lu to an individual conference title in 2022, and four Ducks earned six all-America honors with her on staff. Oregon had just two all-Americans in its history prior to Radley and Vaughn's arrival.

As a player, Vaughn was one of the very best in college golf during her time at Arizona State (2014-17). She was a three-time all-American, earning first-team honors as both a sophomore and a senior. She won the NCAA individual championship in 2017 while also leading the Sun Devils to the team title, and she was the Pac-12 Women's Golfer of the Year.
