UO suffers first home loss to No. 49 Maryland
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team opened conference play with an early lead against No. 49 Maryland after earning the doubles point and a win from Tilde Jagare, but the Terrapins took over in singles play and worked their way to a 4-2 win at the UO Student Tennis Center Friday.
The Ducks (8-4, 0-1) forced five of the six singles matches to a third set, with four of those bouncing back from an opening-set loss to extend the match.
Oregon began the day by winning the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2. Jagare and Olivia Symons grabbed the first win for the Ducks against the Terrapin's No. 23 ranked doubles pair, but Maryland claimed court three, leaving the deciding match to Hinata Furutani and Juliet Santitto, who secured the point in a 7-6 (6) tiebreak victory. UO has won the doubles point in 10 of 12 matches this season.

Jagare collected her second win of the day and was first off the court in singles with a straight-set victory over No. 89 ranked Oliwia Orlinska, which would be Oregon's only singles win. The win marked the first ranked singles win of her career.
Symons extended her match to three sets on court two, but ultimately fell 4-6, 6-3, 3-6 as Maryland put up its first point of the day. Furutani fell in straight sets on court five, evening the match score to two-all.
After winning her first set, Virginia Crocker dropped the second and third and the Terrapins gained their first lead of the day.
Bridget Mihulka came back from a 3-6 first set, won the second 6-2, and fought through a close third set before Maryland clinched the match with a 7-5 third set to secure its fourth point of the day. Patsy Daughters took her first set 6-1, lost the second 6-7 (4) and was leading 4-3 when the match was concluded.
