The Ducks held practice Saturday in Autzen Stadium before pausing spring drills for final exams and spring break.
EUGENE, Ore. — Spring practice continued for the Oregon football team Saturday, when the Ducks held a morning workout inside Autzen Stadium.
Though it was the team's second practice in three days, it was also the last for a couple of weeks. The Ducks will hit pause on spring drills for final exams and then spring break before resuming preparations for the Spring Game, to be held April 25.
Following Saturday's practice, defensive coordinator Chris Hampton and offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer met with local media. Video of those interviews is embedded below.
Some highlights from the coordinators …
Hampton on how his role changes after being promoted to coordinator: "It's not a whole lot. You know, the biggest thing is just organizing the staff and organizing the unit meetings and the install calendar. So just organizing the day-to-day operations with the players and the coaches. And then I'm still coaching the (safeties), still working with my guys; just got a few more obligations."
Hampton on how the defense can develop over the next year: "I think we can get better. You know? I think we can. We can obviously grow, right? We haven't got to where we want to go. We've been good on defense; we want to be elite. We want to be the best. We haven't been the best. We've been pretty good. So I think there's room for growth, for sure."

Mehringer on how the offense will look with him calling plays: "Every offense, every year, is going to be a little bit different. Regardless of who's calling plays, the faces that are on the offense are going to be a little bit different, and the skills that you have on there. There's going to be some guys that are a year older and a little bit better. There's going to be some new guys that show up. There's going to be some young guys that need to play for you. What can they do, and how can we put them in a position to be successful?"
Mehringer on how different this spring feels for him: "There's definitely more responsibilities. You know, making sure that things are organized and making sure that the staff is on the same page. Ultimately, that falls on me, at least for the offensive staff. … Like today we had a ball security circuit. Normally, you're the guy running the drill and now you're the person keeping the drill organized."
