Ducks Turn in Second Straight Ranked Sweep

UO sweeps No. 61 WSU Friday.
EUGENE, Ore. – In the midst of playing seven straight ranked opponents, the 67th-ranked Oregon women's tennis team picked up its second consecutive sweep over a ranked foe with a 4-0 win over No. 61 Washington State on Friday at the UO Student Tennis Center.
The win marked the Ducks' (10-4) eighth home win and third ranked victory of the season. UO got three team points from the bottom half of its lineup, with Nos. 4, 5, and 6 each turning in straight-set wins after clinching the doubles point.
Patsy Daughters and Bridget Mihulka, playing at third doubles for the second straight match, cruised to a 6-2 victory before the Ducks' top duo of Tilde Jagare and Olivia Symons sealed the doubles point with their 6-3 victory.
Dating back to the fall season, Daughters and Mihulka have now won six doubles matches in a row when paired together, moving to 7-2. Jagare and Symons pushed their spring record to 9-4 and led Oregon to its 12th doubles point over 14 dual matches.
In singles action, Daughters earned UO's second team point with her 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4, with freshman Hinata Furutani finishing next with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court five. Mihulka's 6-4, 6-3 win sealed the victory and was her team-leading 11th singles win of the season.
As a team, Oregon boasts a 43-16 combined dual singles record to pair while going 25-7 in doubles play.
UO improved to 30-24 all-time against its former conference rival, with Friday's win being the fourth straight win in the series for the Ducks.
The Ducks wrap up their homestand Saturday against No. 17 Washington on Saturday (12 p.m.).
