UO to Compete at ITA Sectionals, Duck Invite This Week

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team will compete in a pair of tournaments this week, with three players qualifying for the ITA Sectionals that begin Thursday in Los Angeles while four Ducks will play in the three-day Duck Invitational starting Friday at the Student Tennis Center.

Senior Tilde Jagare will compete in the singles draw while Hinata Furutani and Juliet Santitto are paired together in the doubles bracket of the ITA Sectionals, hosted by USC at Marks Tennis Stadium. From the draws, 24 singles players and 12 doubles teams will qualify for the NCAA Championships later this month in Athens, Ga.

At the ITA Northwest Regionals in October, Jagare advanced to the Round of 16 of the singles bracket while Furutani and Santitto moved all the way through to the doubles semifinals. The duo has posted a 4-1 record when paired together this fall, while Jagare boasts a 5-1 singles mark.

Meanwhile, the fall's second Duck Invitational will feature Hadley Appling, Montserrat Baruqui, Patsy Daughters and Bridget Mihulka competing over three days beginning Friday. The quartet will face off with regional rivals Idaho, Portland State and Seattle at the Student Tennis Center.

Friday's action, which will feature two rounds of doubles followed by singles matches, will begin at 11 a.m., with the tournament continuing Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Matches are expected to be played indoors, with a free live stream online. All matches at the Student Tennis Center are free and open to the public.
