Oregon remained perfect at home this season with a win Sunday over Iowa, setting up a showdown next Saturday with No. 1 Nebraska in a sold-out Matthew Knight Arena.
EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon volleyball team has won 10 straight home matches to open this season, and the Ducks' effort to extend that streak to 11 promises to be an unforgettable night at Matthew Knight Arena.
The UO women posted their second straight sweep Sunday, beating Iowa at home to improve to 19-3 overall and 10-2 in the Big Ten. Up next after the 25-23, 25-22, 25-15 victory over the Hawkeyes is a visit Saturday by No. 1 Nebraska, for the first sold-out volleyball match in Matthew Knight Arena's history.
The Ducks improved to 10-0 on Sunday by hitting .299, and holding Iowa to .161 hitting. Oregon led throughout a tightly contested first set, pulled out a back-and-forth second and then dominated the third to complete the sweep.

"In general, pretty good performance from our team," UO coach Trent Kersten said. "Lots of good stuff. I thought we had to bounce back from some service pressure in set one; we got aced significantly too much in that set. But then we really didn't see it pop up as an issue in sets two and three. Offensively, we were pretty good."
Alanah Clemente had 18 kills on .429 hitting to lead the Ducks, and a trio of teammates had seven kills each — Sjakkie Donkers, Valentina Vaulet and Alaina Pollard. Marina Crownover had 36 assists with four kills, nine digs and three blocks.
"I love Marina, and she loves me and she trusts me, and I really appreciate her for that," Clemente said. "And it's honestly very special to be on the court with her, because she's such an intense and technical player, and I just love everything about her."

Up next is the Ducks' eagerly anticipated match-up with the top-ranked Cornhuskers, in a match Saturday that has already been announced as a sellout of MKA.
"Let's show them how special it is to be here in Eugene," Kersten said. "Whether they're wearing red or green, let's welcome them to Eugene and show them what a great volleyball environment is going to look like. They're traveling a long way, and I'm sure there's going to be a lot of green in the crowd too, and I think it'll be a really special night."
How It Happened: Clemente had two kills as Oregon scored the first three points of the opening set, taking a lead the Ducks would never surrender. A kill by Vaulet and an Iowa error helped the Ducks push their lead to 14-9 in the middle of the set, before the Hawkeyes scored four straight to pull within one. Oregon was up 21-20 when kills by Clemente, Donkers and Pollard got the Ducks to set point, and though Iowa scored three times to stay live, Oregon eventually won, 25-23.

The Hawkeyes had four aces during that opening set, but didn't have another the rest of the match. Still, Iowa got out to a 5-1 lead in the second; Kersten let his team play through it rather than call timeout, and the Ducks rallied to get within 6-5. Oregon remained down a point at 8-7 when the Ducks scored six straight behind the dynamic serve of Clemente. That put the Ducks up five, a cushion that proved invaluable later in the set as Iowa rallied back in front, 20-18, after three straight UO errors. It was 22-22 when a kill and then an ace by Clemente got Oregon to set point, which Donkers provided with a kill.
The third set wasn't nearly so dramatic, as Oregon hit .452 to clinch the match. Clemente had seven kills in the set, including the final point of the night to finish off the sweep.
