The Oregon women extended their win streak Sunday with a four-set win over visiting Rutgers.
EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon volleyball remained perfect in October and pushed its win streak to seven Sunday with a four-set win over Rutgers at Matthew Knight Arena.
The Ducks (16-2, 7-1 Big Ten) hit .390 as a team, with Sjakkie Donkers accounting for 20 kills while hitting .475 and Alanah Clemente adding 17 kills on .375 hitting. With Valentina Vaulet having a quiet afternoon, UO coach Trent Kersten turned to opposite Marlee Arrington for production on the left side in the final two sets, and she had four kills to help Oregon finish off a 25-13, 30-32, 25-18, 25-12 victory.
"I couldn't ask for better human beings to play next to and stand by; they make me want to play harder, work harder for them," Arrington said. "And I've never even played outside in a game before. It's just, they give me confidence. They make me feel safe on the court to mess up, to do great, to do anything."

Dalia Virlan added 10 kills with six blocks, Marina Crownover had 47 assists with 11 digs and Donkers also tallied a double-double with 11 digs. Vaulet had 10 digs before Arrington took over in the final two sets to help finish off the victory.
"We've had a bunch of different people step up in different roles; we call them game changers that are coming onto the court," Kersten said. "And we've had plenty of examples so far this year, game changers coming on and just doing a phenomenal job for us."
How It Happened: The Ducks raced out to a lead in the opening set, with consecutive kills by Virlan, Donkers and Clemente making it 6-1. Oregon led 15-8 when another kill by Virlan sparked a four-point run, and a kill by Donkers made it 20-9. Her sixth and final kill of the set clinched it for the Ducks, who hit .464 and held Rutgers to .000 hitting.

The Scarlet Knights (10-10, 1-7) fought gamely in the second to tie the match. It was 8-8 in the early going before a 4-0 run gave Rutgers some cushion, and the lead got out to as much as six at 16-10 and 17-11. It was 19-14 when a kill by Alaina Pollard got Oregon going, and the Ducks eventually tied it at 22-22. Oregon had four chances to clinch the set, the last at 30-29, but Rutgers peeled off three in a row and won on its fourth crack at set point.
"We gave them a bunch of free ones early and we're down by six, and managed to come and make a tiebreaker there," Kersten said. "We shouldn't be in that spot. We should be playing better volleyball, and if we have a better start, I think that's a sweep."
The Ducks got back on track in the third, again holding Rutgers to .000 hitting. The Scarlet Knight again had a solid start to a set, leading 9-6, but this time Oregon got on track earlier and pulled away as the set progressed to go up 2-1 in the match.

"There's just so much 'hard' that goes into this conference, and so many quality teams that force a lot from you," Kersten said. "Set two was a little draining, but we try and do a good job of managing our bodies between games, and making sure we're fresh enough to rise up to the occasion."
Oregon never trailed in the final set. Rutgers did come from behind to force a couple of early ties, at 7-7 and 8-8. But an attack error by the Scarlet Knights sent Crownover to the service line with the Ducks up 9-8, and she didn't give up serve until it was 19-9, with Oregon ripping off an 11-0 run that included three kills by Donkers.Â
