10/16/26 | Women's Volleyball
Friday’s win was the Ducks’ fourth against a ranked team this season.
EUGENE, Ore. — The No. 11 Oregon volleyball team pushed its winning streak to six with Friday's five-set victory over 18th-ranked Indiana at Matthew Knight Arena. Sophomore opposite Alanah Clemente tied for the match lead with 19 kills including the final tally and the Ducks had a season-high 14 blocks against the Hoosiers.
Â
Oregon improved to 15-2 overall with a 6-1 mark in Big Ten play. Friday's result doubled as the Ducks' fourth win over a ranked opponent this season, all coming during its current winning streak.
Â
Clemente tied her season high in kills with Friday's effort and added 10 digs, five blocks and a key ace late in the fifth. She was joined in double figures by Sjakkie Donkers and Valentina Vaulet at 16 and 10 kills, respectively. Marina Crownover dished out 50 assists to go along with nine digs, six kills and three blocks.
Â
How It Happened: In the decisive fifth set, the Ducks got out to an early 3-0 lead with a tandem block from Clemente and Dalia Virlan. The Hoosiers scored the next two points to stop the run but Oregon won four of the next five points for the 7-3 advantage. Clemente and libero Reese Sheppard each had aces in the final frame, good for 9-5 and 14-7 leads, respectively.
Â
Indiana (10-6, 3-4 B1G) saved two match points but on the team's third chance to close out the victory, Crownover found Clemente flying in out of the back row for the match winner.
Â
The Ducks are now 2-0 in five setters this season—both at home—and improve to 5-1 when losing the first set.
Â
The visitors won the opening set and were within a point of a 2-0 match lead. Indiana led 24-22 before the Ducks put together a four-point surge to pull even on the match scoreboard. Donkers had two kills during that final push.
Â
Clemente had eight of her 19 kills in the third set. With the score tied 17-all, the Ducks rattled off the next three points to create some separation. Clemente and Crownover had kills during the push, and Sheppard added an ace. Clemente brought her team to set point with a kill, and two points later, put Oregon ahead with another strike.
Â
Sheppard finished the night with 13 digs, three aces and a pair of assists.
Â
Indiana forced a fifth set with a late push in the fourth, building a 23-17 lead after a block and service ace. The Ducks fought off three set points but Jaidyn Jager found the floor for the 25-21 set win.
Â
Jager also had 19 kills in the match.
Â
Notable: Freshman middle blocker Alaina Pollard continued her strong play off the bench with six kills on seven errorless swings (.857 hitting percentage) and three total blocks.
Â
Up Next: The home weekend continues Sunday against Rutgers (1 p.m., BTN). Single-match tickets for all Oregon home matches are currently on sale.
