EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon defensive back Dillon Thieneman has earned all-America honors both on and off the field after being named to the 2025 academic all-America first team on Tuesday by the College Sports Communicators.
Thieneman becomes the 16th academic all-America first-team selection in program history, and first since Bucky Irving and Bo Nix both earned the honor in 2023. Thieneman is the first Oregon defensive back ever to be a first-team academic all-American.
A transfer from Purdue majoring in business administration, Thieneman maintained a 3.95 GPA while also starting all 15 games for the Ducks and finishing second on the team with 96 total tackles.
Thieneman was also selected as a second-team all-American on the field by the Associated Press, The Sporting News and the Walter Camp Football Foundation. He was a first-team all-Big Ten selection and a semifinalist for the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award.
Thieneman had two interceptions, 3.5 tackles for loss, a sack and five pass breakups for the Ducks. He provided one of the signature moments of the season with his interception in double overtime to seal Oregon's win at then-No. 3 Penn State.
A junior, Thieneman announced his decision earlier this month to declare for the 2026 NFL Draft. He is expected to be one of the first safeties selected.
