East Coast Swing Ends in Loss at Johns Hopkins
03/30/25 | Women's Lacrosse
BALTIMORE – The Oregon lacrosse team fell behind early and could not claw its way back against fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins, falling 22-8 on Sunday afternoon.
The Ducks (5-7, 0-5 Big Ten) struggled to contain the Blue Jays' (9-2, 3-0 Big Ten) offensive attack in the first half, allowing 16 goals in the opening 30 minutes. The Ducks were outshot 40-13, thanks in part to JHU's 25-8 advantage on the draw.
Rachel Pallo, Bri Carrasquillo and Emma Ing led the Ducks offensively on the afternoon. Pallo tallied her first hat trick of the season and second of her career after scoring twice against Maryland last time out, while Carrasquillo net a pair of goals for the second game in a row, her 10th multi-goal game of the season. Ing also scored twice and added an assist.
How It Happened: Johns Hopkins scored six goals before Pallo was able to get the Ducks on the board midway through the first quarter. Three more JHU goals made it a 9-1 game after the opening 15 minutes. Carrasquillo and Ing each scored both of their goals in the second quarter, but Oregon still could not find a way to slow the Blue Jay attack and fell behind 16-5 at the half.
The halftime adjustments worked in the Ducks' favor as Oregon was able to hold JHU to just two goals in the third quarter, but UO was unable to generate enough easy scoring chances to cut into the lead. Rachel Pallo scored off a feed from Kylee Manser, but it was the Ducks' lone goal in the frame.
Lyla Hurley scored in the fourth, pushing her consecutive games with a point streak to ten, and Pallo capped her hat trick with half a minute left on the clock, but Johns Hopkins scored four times to keep the Ducks at bay.
Notable: Carrasquillo's four ground balls set a new career high … Paige Crowther led the Oregon goalkeepers with three saves.
Up Next: The Ducks return to Eugene to face No. 10 Michigan on Sunday (noon, Big Ten Network).
