Ducks Win Bandon Dunes Championship
03/11/25 | Men's Golf
BANDON, Ore. – The Oregon men's golf team put together its best round of the tournament when it mattered most, shooting an 8-under 276 to claim the team title at the Bandon Dunes Championship on Tuesday.
The win marks the Ducks' first title of the season and first since the 2022-23 campaign, when they won the Bandon Dunes Championship and the Duck Invitational back to back. Oregon has now won the last three Bandon Dunes Championship team titles.
Oregon finished the tournament with a 4-over 856, and the Ducks' third round tally – the lone under-par round out of any team in the field at Bandon Trails this week – gave UO a 21-shot edge over runners-up Boise State and Utah Valley.
"We had a great stretch of golf midway through the round to give us some breathing room," head coach Casey Martin said. "It always feels good to win."
Three Ducks placed in the top 10 individually. Greyson Leach finished as runner-up with a 4-under 213 after a final round 70, seven strokes behind Utah Valley's Dane Huddleston. Aiden Krafft climbed to fourth after matching his career-low round with a 6-under 65 in the finale, while Ramil Saelim tied for sixth with a 5-over 218 in his debut in the Oregon lineup.
How It Happened
Oregon teed off with a six-stroke lead on the field but gave a few back early as four of the five Ducks in the lineup bogeyed within the first two holes. The Ducks found their swings quickly and were able to put the competition at bay early.
Leach continued his steady play on Tuesday. He sat even through nine with two birdies and two bogeys and added a birdie on the par-3 12th after hitting his tee shot close to finish 1 under. Leach now has two top-10 finishes in his senior campaign after tying for sixth to open the season.
Krafft carded the low round of the day for the Ducks – and the lowest round of the tournament – with his 65. After a double bogey on the second hole, the junior carded eight birdies and eight pars to end the round, including four birdies in his final five holes. Krafft finished with a 1-under 212 for the week.
Saelim recorded five birdies in the third round, but also tallied four bogeys and a pair of doubles en route to a 4-over 75. He finished his first collegiate tournament tied for sixth.
Eric Doyle carded his first under-par round of the week with a 2-under 69, tallying four birdies and two bogeys. The senior finished 12 over for the week and tied for 31st. Jay Gould-Healy rounded out the counting scores with a 1-over 72 with two birdies and three bogeys, tying for 31st at 10 over.
Quotable
"We have had a difficult schedule and so sometimes it doesn't feel like we are doing that great," Martin said. "But to come and win by 20 shots should reinforce that we can play a little."
