Ducks Make History, Finish Fifth at Amer Ari Intercollegiate
02/08/25 | Men's Golf
KOHALA COAST, Hawaii – The Oregon men's golf team made history in Hawaii, setting the program record for the lowest tournament to par in a 54-hole event with a 48-under finish at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate on Saturday. The Ducks' three-day total score of 816 is the third lowest in program history.
Oregon finished fifth overall at Mauni Lani behind four teams ranked in the top 10 after a 12-under 276 on Saturday. Ninth-ranked Oklahoma State claimed the team title at 64-under par.
"I am really satisfied with how we played this event," head coach Casey Martin said. "To finish fifth out of 20 amazing teams is very encouraging. We went head-to-head with the best teams in collegiate golf and did well.
Eric Doyle capped his phenomenal week on the islands with a 3-under 69, becoming just the sixth Duck to shoot under 200 in a 54-hole tournament and the first to do so on a par-72 course with a three-day total of 199 (-17). The senior finished fifth overall individually and was one of three Ducks to place in the top 25.
How It Happened
Doyle opened his round with three birdied and three bogeys in his first 11 holes before carding three birdies in his next four holes. He ended the day with three pars to etch his name in the Oregon record book and claim his second top-five finish in his last two tournaments.
Aiden Krafft carded the Ducks' best round of the day with a 5-under 67, his third sub-70 round of the week. The junior tallied seven birdies on the day, including four in his first six holes, to go with only two bogeys as he jumped up the leaderboard to finish tied for 16th, his second top-20 finish of the season.
Greyson Leach and Tim Chang each finished with a 2-under 70 to round out the Ducks' counting scores in the final round. Leach carded three birdies on the day with his lone bogey coming on No. 13 and he finished the tournament tying Krafft with a team-high 34 pars. Chang bogeyed his first two holes but responded well, carding five birdies against one par for the rest of the round to finish T37 in his debut in the Ducks' lineup.
Quotable
On Eric Doyle: "Eric has taken his game to a higher level the past few events," Martin said. "It's really exciting to watch. He hits so many good shots."
