Ducks Come Up Short in Match Play

SANTA ANA PUEBLO, N.M. – The Oregon men's golf team concluded the third round of play at the Notah Begay III Match Play in New Mexico on Wednesday.
The Ducks fell to the eventual tournament winner, UNLV who went undefeated through three rounds.
Freshman Oscar Lent and senior Jay Gould-Healy won their second matches of the tournament on Wednesday, contributing to Oregon's six total points.
Oregon was came away with two wins in each of their three matches, as Oscar Lent, Aiden Krafft and Jay Gould-Healy each won a pair.
How It Happened
Coming off a win at the Tindall Individual Tournament, Lent split matches on Tuesday, but led early against UNLV's Brett Sawaia in the third round. The Oregon freshman won the first hole, then took the fourth, eighth and ninth. Sawaia answered with wins on No. 10 and No. 14, but Lent took No. 12 and No. 13 to finish with a 4&3 victory.
Gould-Healy carded his second match victory as well, after Zach Little led 1-up through seven holes. Gould-Healy tied the match up with a win on No. 8, and finished with three unanswered wins on the back nine to end 3&2.
New Mexico native Aiden Krafft was tied with UNLV's Trevor Lewis after seven holes after winning two on the front half. Lewis won the back nine, topping Krafft 2&1. Casper Nerpin and Hugh Adams rounded out Oregon's lineup. Nerpin won three holes in his final match, while Adams took one from UNLV.
