EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon men's tennis team kept their home unbeaten streak alive on Friday, defeating New Mexico 6-1 at the Student Tennis Center.
The match started with a tense doubles point that needed all three matches to decide the point. After splitting the first two with a court two victory by UO, the Ducks secured the point when Vlad Breazu and Lachlan Robertson took court three 6-4.
Oregon needed just three points in singles to secure a win, and got there in a hurry. Paris Pouatcha was on a mission on court three, sweeping Aditya Balsekar 6-2, 6-2, while fellow freshman Clement Lemire picked up the third point shortly after with a 7-6(5), 6-2 sweep on court four. The clincher came from Lenn Luemkemann on court one, a huge 7-5, 6-3 sweep. With the match in-hand, Oregon played out the remaining matches, resulting in a 6-4, 7-6(3) sweep from Vlad Breazu and a 7-6(5), 6-4 win on court six from Zian Vanderstappen.
