First serve of the Oregon-UCLA match is set for 7 p.m. on FS1.
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon volleyball team will spend the first full week of November on its home floor, hosting UCLA and Michigan State at Matthew Knight Arena. The Oregon-UCLA match is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. The teams met just over two weeks ago in Los Angeles, a straight-set win for the Ducks.
In the weekend finale, Oregon will celebrate Senior Day against Michigan State on Sunday.
Series Info vs UCLA
With last month's road sweep over then-No. 25 UCLA, Oregon has won seven consecutive against the Bruins. It is the program's longest winning streak in the all-time series. UCLA has a 59-22 lead in the head-to-head but dating back to 2018, the Ducks have won 11 of the past 14 meetings.
Series Info vs Michigan State
Sunday will be just the fourth meeting between the two programs with Oregon holding a slim 2-1 advantage in the series. Prior to last year's match, a straight-set win for the Ducks in East Lansing, the teams hadn't played since the 2014 season, the same year as the last meeting in Eugene.
Last Time Out
Freshmen Alanah Clemente and Holley McFadden combined for 16 kills in a road loss at top-ranked Nebraska (Nov. 2). The setback was the Ducks' third-consecutive loss, their longest skid of the season. Sophia Meyers and Valentina Vaulet each put away seven kills against the Huskers while Meyers led the team with nine digs.
RPI Watch
The Ducks (13-8, 4-8 B1G) check in at No. 57 in the latest release of the NCAA RPI rankings. Oregon's next six are against teams inside the top 40 including this week's foes UCLA (RPI 37) and Michigan State (34).
Fresh Impact
Alanah Clemente is one of eight freshman in the country this season averaging more than four points per set this season. She enters the week ninth in the Big Ten with 4.32 points per set, also good for fourth among all NCAA freshmen. Clemente leads the Ducks with 3.51 kills per set and has reached double figures in 15 of 22 matches this season. From the service line, she has two or more aces in 12 matches, nine of those coming in Big Ten play.
Service Pressure
Oregon enters the week fifth in the Big Ten with 142 aces and, individually, Alanah Clemente (36 aces) and Valentina Vaulet are second and tied for fifth, respectively, in the league. Collectively, the Ducks have five players with 10 or more service aces when adding the efforts of Cora Taylor (15), Sophia Meyers (13) and Iva Sucurovic (11). Oregon has five or more aces in 19 of 22 matches this season, and tied its season high with 10 service winners against Minnesota (Oct. 17).
Playing at MKA
The Ducks are 5-3 in home matches this season including Big Ten wins over Iowa, Ohio State and Minnesota. Oregon's most recent home victory over then-No. 18 Minnesota was the program's 150th win at Matthew Knight Arena. This is the Ducks' 15th year playing at MKA with a record of 150-58, a tally that includes a 95-53 conference mark.
Taylor Tested
Senior Cora Taylor enters Thursday's match with 3,724 career assists, good for 10th among active NCAA DI setters. She has 40 or more assists in four matches this year including a season-high 48 assists against Wisconsin (Oct. 26). Taylor began her career at Butler (2022-24) where she tallied 3,036 assists. The Independence, Ky., native is averaging 9.60 assists/set in Big Ten play.
