
Furutani, Symons Advance to Doubles Quarterfinals

BERKELEY, Calif. – On the third day of the ITA Northwest Regionals, Oregon's doubles team of Hinata Furutani and Olivia Symons advanced to the quarterfinals of the doubles bracket at Hellman Tennis Complex on Sunday.
The Duck duo collected its third win in as many days with an 8-6 win over Pacific's Pauline Lerminiaux and Cindy Ung to advance to Monday's quarterfinal round. Hinata and Symons will match up against Lou Baudouin and Irene Riva of Sacramento State at 9 a.m.
Should Hinata and Symons advance against Sacramento State, they will compete in the semifinals later Monday afternoon at approximately 2 p.m., and would face either Stanford's Valerie Glozman and Monika Ekstrand or California's Greta Greco Lucchina and Mao Mishika.
Also competing in Sunday's doubles round of 16 was UO's Tilde Jagare and Juliet Santitto, who fell to Washington State's Eva Alvarez Sande and Maxine Murphy, 8-1.
In the singles bracket, Jagare dropped a straight-set decision to No. 58 Carolina Driscoll of Stanford in the round of 16. Jagare earned her spot in the round of 16 with two singles wins on Saturday, including her first career ranked victory.
