Homestand Continues with Portland, Texas Tech

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team's season-opening homestand rolls on with two more matches this weekend at the Student Tennis Center, first taking on Portland on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. followed by a Sunday matchup with No. 23 Texas Tech at 10 a.m.

The Ducks are off to their first 4-0 start since 2014 following two home wins last weekend. UO began the weekend with a 7-0 sweep of Seattle before finishing the weekend with a 5-2 win over Long Beach State. Oregon has recorded three sweeps over its first four matches while combining to go 16-2 in singles and 9-1 in doubles.
Freshman Patsy Daughters and sophomore Tilde Jagare are both off to 4-0 starts in singles to lead the Ducks. Daughters has played a the No. 3 spot in the lineup and took home Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors on Jan. 22.
Daughters and her doubles partner, senior Karin Young, are also 4-0 playing at the top doubles spot in the lineup. The duo leads five different doubles squads to pick up victories this spring. Young is 3-0 in singles while occupying the second position in the lineup.
The Red Raiders will mark the first ranked opponent the Ducks will face this season, as Texas Tech checked in at No. 23 in the latest ITA rankings. TTU features four different doubles tandems ranked in the ITA's top 70, led by 15th-ranked Mariia Hlahola and Avelina Sayfetdinova.
Oregon is 37-1 all-time against Portland after the Ducks' 6-1 win over the Pilots a season ago. Oregon and Texas Tech have matched up three times, with UO holding a 2-1 series lead. The squads last faced each other in the season opener in 2016.
