Ducks Kick Off Five-Match Homestand

EUGENE, Ore. – Following six straight matches away from home, the Oregon women's tennis team returns to the Student Tennis Center on Saturday to begin a five-match homestand, starting with a matchup with Portland at 1 p.m.

The Ducks opened Pac-12 play on the road against two ranked foes in No. 60 Colorado and No 47 Utah, falling 4-2 in both contests. The losses snapped UO's four-match winning streak. Oregon has won seven of its last 10 matches overall.
Uxia Martinez Moral is a team-leading 9-3 this spring and has won her last three singles matches. Jo-Yee Chan also has racked up nine singles wins, going 9-4, and is coming off back-to-back victories at the No. 2 spot in the lineup. Karin Young is 8-3 this spring season, with five wins coming at the fifth position.
On the double side, Oregon has clinched the doubles point in nine of 13 matches this season and have used 10 different doubles combinations. Freshman Candela Aparisi and Young own a team-best six doubles victories. Chan has six total doubles victories across four different pairings, while Sophie Luescher also owns six doubles wins with three different partners.
The Pilots are coming off wins over Montana and Eastern Washington in their last two matches. Sally Pethybridge boasts a 9-2 singles mark this spring to lead UP, while Nadine Arbaizar Martinez and Iva Zelic are tied for second with seven singles victories apiece.
The Ducks are 36-1 all-time against Portland, with wins in each of the last three seasons. Saturday's match will mark UO's final nonconference match before resuming Pac-12 action at home on Friday, March 22 against Arizona State.
