10/18/24 | Women's Volleyball
No. 11 Oregon takes on No. 9 Wisconsin (5 p.m. PT, B1G+) in a rematch of last year’s regional final.
EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 11 Oregon volleyball team returns to the road for a pair of matches including a top-15 meeting with ninth-ranked Wisconsin on Friday. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. PT and will be available on B1G+. Both teams enter the contest at 5-1 in Big Ten play.
Series History vs Wisconsin
Friday marks a rematch of last season's NCAA regional final in Madison, a 3-1 victory for the Badgers. Oregon and Wisconsin had met just twice prior to that matchup, splitting results with Oregon winning in 1984 and Wisconsin getting the win in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
Series History vs Iowa
Oregon and Iowa will be playing for just the second time Sunday but for the first time since 1987. The Hawkeyes won that previous meeting, a 3-1 win in Iowa City. The Oregon-Iowa match is set for a 10 a.m. PT start, also a B1G+ broadcast.
How They Rank
The Ducks are up to No. 8 in the most recent RPI release, up five spots from the initial release. Collectively, Oregon ranks among the top 25 nationally in blocks/set (fifth, 3.06), opponent hitting percentage (20th, 0.158) and hitting percentage (22nd, 0.270). Individually, senior Onye Ofoegbu is 20th in the country with her .410 hitting percentage.
Last Time Out
Oregon rallied from a 2-1 match deficit and a 10-5 hole in the fifth set to beat No. 24 Washington (Oct. 13). Mimi Colyer had a season-high 25 kills, including nine in a must-win fourth, to go along with 13 digs and six blocks. Cristin Cline (46 assists, 10 digs) and Michelle Ohwobete (12 kills, 10 digs) also posted double-doubles in the five-set thriller.
And the Winner Is…
On the heels of her efforts last weekend, Mimi Colyer earned Big Ten and AVCA Player of the Week accolades. She accounted for 6.00 points per set, 5.25 kills per set (.354), 2.75 digs per set and 1.00 block per set. Colyer became the sixth Duck to win AVCA weekly honors, and first since the 2018 season.
That's Up
Since donning the libero jersey to start the fourth set against Indiana (Sept. 28), senior Mackenzie Morris is averaging 4.07 digs per set. She posted back-to-back season highs last week with 16 digs against USC followed by a 17-dig performance in the come-from-behind win over Washington. Morris also had a season-high three aces against the Huskies and served the final five points as Oregon ended the match on a 6-0 run.
Serving a Purpose
Junior DS Maya De Los Reyes had two aces in Oregon's sweep of USC (Oct. 9), her fourth multiple-ace outing of the season. With her first service winner against the Women of Troy, she reached double digits for the season. De Los Reyes is up to 12 aces this year; tallied her first-career ace against Long Beach State (Sept. 1).
The Ducks are back home next weekend to host Maryland and Rutgers at Matthew Knight Arena.
