Ducks Finish Fourth at Maui Invitational
11/24/21 | Men's Basketball
LAS VEGAS – A forgetful outing saw Oregon fall 78-49 to Houston in the third place game of the Maui Invitational on Tuesday.
How it Happened: Coach Altman switched up the starting lineup for the second consecutive game, replacing Jacob Young with De'Vion Harmon and keeping Franck Kepnang in after a career high in points last game. The Ducks shot 30 percent in the first half, connecting on six field goals. The Cougars started hot and shot 51.7 percent to take a 41-19 lead into the halftime break. Young was a bright spot in the half with two steals.
Houston started the second half on a 12-0 run to force an early timeout from the Ducks. Oregon cut the lead to 22 late in the half, but could not get within striking distance. Houston's 40-22 edge in paint points proved to be a deciding factor in the contest.
Who Stood Out: Eric Williams Jr. finished with 13 points and has now scored in double figures in five consecutive games.
Up Next: Oregon hosts Montana at 7 p.m. on Monday at Matthew Knight Arena.
