Oregon Earns Comeback Win Against Arizona

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team won in come-from-behind fashion, taking four of six matches in singles play to defeat Arizona, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Student Tennis Center.
How it Happened: During doubles play, Arizona (9-6) took an early lead when the duo of Abby Amos and Tayla Zandberg (ARIZ) defeated Uxia Martinez Moral and Myah Petchey, 6-4. At the No. 1 spot, Oregon's duo of Julia Eshet and Lillian Mould earned a 6-4 victory for their 12th doubles win of the season to tie the doubles match at 1-1.
The Wildcats clinched the doubles point when Kayla Wilkins and Gitte Heynemans took down Oregon's duo of Plobrung Plipuech and Rifanty Kahfiani at No. 3 doubles, 6-3, to take a 1-0 match lead.
The Ducks (8-6) entered singles play down by one point. Arizona claimed the first singles point to lead, 2-0, but the Ducks found a way to fight back. Oregon rallied and won the next four matches to complete the comeback and win, 4-2.
Plipuech earned the first win of the day for the Ducks with a 6-2, 6-4 straight-sets win at No. 3 singles. Martinez Moral then tied the match at 2-2, also winning in straight sets (6-3, 7-5). Mould gave the Ducks the lead after a hard fought match in spot No. 2, winning 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. Rifanty Kahfiani clinched the come-from-behind win for Oregon with a comeback of her own at No. 1 singles. After dropping the first set, the senior won the next two (6-4, 6-1) to earn an Oregon victory.
