Ducks Beat Loyola Marymount in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Oregon men's tennis team began its weekend in San Diego with a 5-2 win over Loyola Marymount. With their latest triumph, the Ducks push their winning streak to six and improve to 9-2 overall. Oregon won the doubles point for the eighth time in 11 matches and followed with wins in four of six singles matches.
How It Happened: The Ducks picked up wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles to take the early 1-0 advantage over Loyola Marymount (3-3). At the top spot, the 11th-ranked Ty Gentry and Joshua Charlton registered a 7-6 win for the duo's 14th win of the season. Gentry and Charlton are now 7-1 in dual play. Riki Oshima and Jesper Klöv-Nilsson (5-2) were also winners on court three.
With the doubles point in hand, Oregon went on to secure wins at No. 1, 4, 5 and 6 singles on its way to the team victory. Charlton, ranked No. 19 in the Feb. 18 release of the ITA poll, won his sixth-match in a row with a 6-1, 7-6 victory on court one. The sophomore standout is now 19-5 this season and has won nine of 10 dual matches.
The bottom half of the singles lineup delivered with wins by junior Riki Oshima on court four, freshman Luke Vandecasteele on court five and junior Brandon Lam on court six. Lam clinched the win—at 4-2—with his three-set victory at No. 6 singles. His win over Emin Torlic (6-4, 5-7, 6-4) was Lam's 13th win of the season.
