Ducks Cap Conference Play in Arizona

The Oregon women's tennis team will close out Pac-12 play this weekend, facing No. 50 Arizona on Friday and No. 38 Arizona State on Sunday.
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team will close out Pac-12 play this weekend as it heads to the Grand Canyon State to face No. 50 Arizona on Friday, April 12 (10 a.m. PT) and No. 38 Arizona State on Sunday, April 14 (11 a.m. PT).
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT
Despite being 1-7 in conference play, Arizona enters this match with an impressive resume. The Wildcats rattled off four straight wins to begin the season, including two clean 7-0 sweeps against Team Japan and New Mexico State. More recently, Arizona recorded a 4-1 win over No. 46 Utah and a close 4-3 victory over No. 43 Denver.
Arizona State has taken down some notable opponents throughout the season, earning its national ranking. The Sun Devils have recorded three wins in Pac-12 play, including sweeps of No. 46 Utah and No. 42 Washington State. Arizona State also boasts the No. 1 doubles team in the country behind Lauryn John-Baptiste and Ilze Hattingh.

LAST TIME OUT
A shorthanded Duck squad fell to Colorado, 4-0, on March 29 and Utah, 7-0, on March 31.
Against Colorado, the Ducks were forced to forfeit doubles on court three, giving Colorado the upper hand to begin the match. The Buffs capitalized, claiming a victory on court two to take a 1-0 lead into singles.
In singles, Colorado quickly picked up another point on a UO forfeit. Shortly after, the Buffs recorded wins on courts two and three to secure the victory.
Sunday against Colorado looked pretty similar for the Ducks. In doubles, UO forfeited on court three, giving Utah the early advantage. Utah went on to win on court one, grabbing an 1-0 lead heading into singles.
In singles play, Oregon was again forced to forfeit on court six, allowing Utah to pick up another point. Then, Utah rattled off wins on the remaining courts to complete the sweep.
RECORD SETTING SENIOR
Daniela Nasser recorded her 62nd career win with a straight-set victory over Daniela Morales of San Diego on Feb. 16. With 62 wins, Nasser moves into ninth on UO's career wins list, passing Kumi Nagamoto (1987-90). Nasser needs one more win to tie Shweta Sangwan (2015-19) for eighth on the list.
IN THE RANKINGS
In doubles, Rifanty Kahfiani and Allison Mulville cracked their way into the rankings and now sit at No. 87 after a dominate 6-3 win over 20th-ranked Emily Arbuthnott and Michaela Gordon of Stanford.
WELCOME ABOARD, UXIA
The Ducks added to their 2019 class with the signing of Uxia Martinez Moral. A decorated player from Spain, Martinez Moral will join Lilly Mould of Great Britain for the Ducks' 2019 fall season.
