Four Wins on Day one of the Duck Invite

EUGENE, Ore. – Day one of the Duck Invitational featured three wins including a victory from defending champion and UO senior Ty Gentry. Play resumes Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Student Tennis Center.
Having received a bye in the opening round, Gentry began his weekend with a straight-set win over Tom Hann of Portland. Gentry posted a 7-6(2), 6-1 victory to move on to the semifinals. Freshman Luke Vandecasteele began his weekend with a first-round win over Eleftherios Neos of Portland but lost in round two.
With two other UO teams receiving first-round byes, the duo of Riki Oshima and Giorgio Soemarno was the only home doubles in action Friday. Oshima and Soemarno produced a thrilling 8-7(6) victory over Issa Yoshida and Dustin Kua of Portland.
There are two rounds of doubles scheduled for Saturday. The Ducks' freshman team of Vandecasteele and Jesper Klöv-Nilsson will be action along with Emmanuel Coste and Brandon Lam.
