Fall Season Continues with Duck Invite

EUGENE, Ore. – For a second-consecutive year, the Oregon men's tennis team host a fall tournament with the Duck Invitational beginning Friday at the Student Tennis Center. Play begins with the opening round of doubles at 9 a.m. (PT) and singles to follow at 10 a.m.
In addition to the host Ducks, the five-team field will include Boise State, Loyola Marymount, Pacific and Portland. Day one of the tournament is set for two rounds of singles in both flights and one round in the doubles bracket.
Senior Ty Gentry is the defending 'A' flight champion. He enters the tournament having won the doubles title at the ITA Northwest Regional with sophomore Joshua Charlton. The pair, ranked No. 45 in the ITA preseason poll, secured a spot in the National Fall Championships (Nov. 6-10) in Newport Beach, Calif.
The top-flight bracket will also features junior transfer Brandon Lam, and freshmen Jesper Klöv-Nilsson and Luke Vandecasteele. In his outing, Klöv-Nilsson advanced to the round of 16 at last week's regional tournament. Fellow freshman Giorgio Soemarno will play in the 'B' flight.
Three UO doubles teams are entered in the doubles draw. Lam will team junior Emmanuel Coste, off his semifinal run at the regional tournament. Klöv-Nilsson and Vandecasteele will be partners for the first time this fall. The third Oregon duo consists of Soemarno and junior Riki Oshima.
