Ducks Close Out Kick-Off Weekend

Despite a valiant comeback effort, the Oregon women's tennis team fell, 4-2, to UNLV on Sunday.
MALIBU, Calif. – The Oregon women's tennis team closed out ITA Kick-Off Weekend with a 4-2 loss to UNLV on Sunday.
How It Happened: Despite a thrilling comeback campaign, the Ducks could not surmount an early 3-0 deficit initiated by the Rebels.
Oregon (1-2) surrendered the doubles point to begin the match, giving UNLV a 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.
UNLV (1-1) carried their momentum over to singles, claiming quick victories at the three and six spots to jump out to a dominant 3-0 lead. However, Oregon began to fight back regardless of the score.
Freshman Allison Mulville was the first to put the Ducks on the board, defeating her opponent in straight sets (6-4, 7-5).
Daniela Nasser was next for UO, the senior dominated in her second set to come out on top (7-6, 6-1), giving the Ducks their second point of the match and narrowing the gap.
It came down to Shweta Sangwan and Rifanty Kahfiani who both found themselves in three-set battles. Ultimately, Kahfiani couldn't hold on, dropping her match in a close one and sealing the win for UNLV.
Notable: Daniela Nasser recorded the 58th win of her career, moving her onto UO's career wins list in a tie for 10th with current teammate Shweta Sangwan and Kara Yoshida (1992-95).
