MALIBU, Calif. – The Oregon women's tennis team fell to Denver, 4-0, Saturday in the first round of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
How It Happened: After trailing early, the Ducks couldn't hold on in Malibu, surrendering their first loss of the spring season.
Oregon (1-1) relinquished the doubles point to begin the afternoon, dropping matches at the two and three spots while leaving the match at the top spot unfinished.
Denver (1-0) continued to roll into singles play, claiming the first three finished matches to clinch the win. Play stopped once the match was decided, leaving the remaining three matches incomplete.
Quotable:
Courtney Nagle, Head Coach
"Today showed us some areas we need to improve on going forward. Overall, I thought Denver did a better job capitalizing on opportunities at certain positions throughout the match. Tomorrow we need to come out a little tougher and ready to go from the start of doubles. I'm looking forward to seeing how the girls bounce back tomorrow."
