Ducks Fall to Portland in Season Opener

Oregon dropped its 2018 beach opener, 4-1, to Portland on Saturday in Salem
SALEM, Ore. - The Oregon beach volleyball team dropped its 2018 season opener, 4-1, to Portland on Saturday at Chemeketa Community College.
How it Happened: Opening their season against Portland for the second year in a row, the Ducks (0-1) earned a point at the No. 5 court with a win by senior Maggie Scott and sophomore Ronika Stone. Oregon's winningest pair last season, Scott and Stone defeated Portland's Elizabeth Reich and McKenzie Schwan, 21-19, 21-11.
Both the No. 2 pair of Willow Johnson and Lauren Page and the No. 3 duo of August Raskie and Josie Cole rebounded from first-set losses to win their second sets, 21-14, but the Pilots (2-3) held on in the final sets on both courts.
Marine Hall-Poirier and Kyra Hanawahine played tough on the No. 4 court but lost, 24-22, 21-13, and the Ducks' No. 1 pair of Taylor Agost and Lindsey Vander Weide suffered a 21-12, 21-14 defeat.
