Oregon Beach Volleyball Opens Duck Dunes With First Serve Ceremony

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon Beach Volleyball officially moved into its new on-campus home Wednesday, as student-athletes, coaches, alumni, campus partners, and the project's design and construction team gathered for the first serve ceremony at Duck Dunes.
The ceremony marked the first day the Ducks' team and coaching staff have been on the new courts, located at the corner of 13th Avenue and Agate Street in the center of campus.
"It's a culmination of over eight years of hard work and persistence by so many," Oregon Athletic Director Rob Mullens said of the project, which began in 2018. "We're grateful to everyone who helped convert this bold vision into an actual facility. It was fun last year when we were able to open a new locker room for these student-athletes in Matthew Knight Arena, and today is another exciting day to officially unveil this beautiful facility for Oregon Beach Volleyball in what is the perfect location for our campus. We cannot wait to see this facility alive with passionate Oregon fans, creating an incredible home-court advantage for the Duck Beach Volleyball team."
The $3.5 million project features three competition courts, a scoreboard and an equipment building. It follows the program's September 2025 opening of its new locker room inside Matthew Knight Arena.
The University of Oregon Board of Trustees approved the Duck Dunes name in June. A significant portion of the sand on the courts came from Florence, home to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, tying the Ducks' identity to one of the state's most recognizable natural landmarks. They poured the first sand onto the courts in late June.
The facility is part of the university's Hamilton-Walton Transformation Project and sits on the former site of Hamilton Hall.
Duck Dunes arrives after the most successful season in program history. In 2026, under first-year head coach Kristian Kuld, the Ducks set the program's single-season wins record, earned multiple ranked victories and posted the highest-ranked win in program history.
